 Dorset Minerals Strategy
The Minerals Strategy is a plan setting out the vision, objectives and policies for meeting Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole's mineral needs. It sets out the strategy for quarrying stone, sand and gravel, ball clay and other minerals within the county, taking into account the need to meet requirements in a sustainable manner.

Historic England county building stone atlases

As part of the Strategic Stone Study, Historic England has commissioned a set of atlases covering the building stones of the English counties, including Dorset. These are freely available as pdf downloads from them and can be found by clicking on the button below.
